The gif is called, “Benham’s disk" "is named after the English toymaker Charles Benham, who in 1895 sold a top painted with the pattern shown. When the disk is spun, arcs of pale color, called Fechner colors or pattern-induced flicker colors (PIFCs), are visible at different places on the disk. Not everyone sees the same colors."
"The phenomenon originates from neural activity in the retina and spatial interactions in the primary visual cortex, which plays a role in encoding low-level image features, such as edges and spatiotemporal frequency components."
Fascinating how our brains work, I see a brown tan, what do you see? :D
I feel like this is a moment that needs more love because there is some awesome parallelism here? Like, I imagine Raven is thinking of how she’s only alive because he missed when he tried to shoot her for the greater good. Guess what, Erik, I can shoot people for the greater good, too, and you’re not going to live because I missed, but because I’m the “better man,” as Charles would once have put it. Just chew on that for a while.
It really is a sign of her being a middle road between Erik and Charles, I think. She’s still completely capable of violence and putting someone down hard — and don’t fool yourself that yanking off his helmet and leaving him for a bitter telepath to do with as he likes isn’t putting him down hard. But she’s not Erik. She’s not going to kill someone she cares about just for being in the way of her goals.
